PlainWords

Privacy Policy

Effective November 3, 2026. This policy covers the PlainWords Android app (com.plainwords.simplify.reader) and this website.

Summary

PlainWords has no account, advertising, analytics or tracking. Text leaves your phone only when you ask for a rewrite.

Text you ask to rewrite

When you tap Make it plain, or switch level on the Compare screen, the text you pasted and the level you chose are sent over HTTPS through the PlainWords API gateway to an AI service (Google Gemini), which creates the rewrite. The text is sent to produce that response. The app does not attach a name, account or device identifier to it.

Please remove names, ID numbers, account numbers and other private details before you send text. The app shows this notice and asks you to agree before the first request.

Stored on your phone

Rewrites you choose to save and your settings (text size, appearance) stay in the app's private storage on your phone. The app turns off Android backup for this data. You can delete a saved text, or all of them, in the app. Uninstalling the app removes them.

Works without internet

The word list, word lookup, readability measures and saved texts work offline and send nothing.

Permissions

The app requests internet access only, which it uses for rewrites.

This website

This website has no analytics, advertising, forms or cookies. The hosting provider may process routine request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver the pages.

Children

PlainWords does not ask for personal information and does not knowingly collect it from children. An adult should help a child who wants to use rewriting with a private document.

Accuracy

AI rewrites can contain mistakes, and the word list gives general meanings. PlainWords is a reading aid, not legal, medical or financial advice.
